Description
Description
Britain Before the Industrial Revolution History Lesson
This no-prep Year 9 history resource helps students understand what Britain was like before factories transformed work, settlement and daily life. It explores rural Britain in 1750, the domestic or cottage system, agricultural change, enclosure, population growth and the movement of workers towards towns.
Students build historical knowledge through guided reading, retrieval questions, image comparison, vocabulary support, a domestic system versus factory system T-chart, causation tasks and a primary source analysis based on Arthur Young’s account of enclosure. The lesson develops comprehension, comparison, causation and source-analysis skills while preparing students for a wider study of the Industrial Revolution.
